About Us

Established in September 2000. JAM Dance Company’s ethos is the Nurture and Development of Young People.

JAM Dance Company offers a wide range of dance and performance classes, whether a student is just starting at the age of 2, or a competent student seeking help in preparation for a professional career.

JAM Dance Company nurtures and prepares students on their dancing journey by providing appropriate training and support to allow all pupils to achieve and fulfil their individual and collective potential. This is our way of instilling positive values, life skills and health benefits through the study of dance and performance.

We have many pupils who have gone on to successful careers in various areas of dance and performance, as well as achieving placements at dance universities and colleges.

The Student’s Journey

Every child is known individually and is supported by dedicated teachers and staff. All young dancers are allowed to enjoy their learning as this is the surest route to enabling them to excel. Advancement is based on many factors including a pupil’s strength, physical development, effort, mastery of material, maturity, attendance record and artistic development.

JAM students and families often use the term “The JAM Family” when talking about us, which is a testament to the happy, inclusive atmosphere at our school.

Ultimately, every student is encouraged to fulfil their potential in all they do and be the very best they can.

Teaching Philosophy

While excellence in technical training is crucial to our students’ development it goes well beyond technique supporting the growth of the whole student. A great emphasis is placed on the quality of teaching for each individual and recognises the different ways in which learners grow and progress. This structure helps students to grow in confidence whilst enjoying a friendly class environment.

At JAM Dance Company students are continually stretched and challenged. They are encouraged to train and take exams, perform at festivals, as well compete in internal and external competitions and promote their excellent achievements through professional bi-annual show and productions.

In addition, JAM offers half-term dance and performance camps, as well as supporting local schools and the community with annual performances and workshops.
